The fact that the study has also shown both the "high-carb low-fat" and "low-carb high-fat" diets are equally effective in weight loss and hence there is no doubt that one should stick to the former diet than the latter if one were to follow a lose weight diet plan over a long period of time. Scientists believed that there is no effect on mood changes in the short term but dramatic changes could occur over time such as a period of one year after.
On average, the study has recorded that the average Body Mass Index (BMI) of the obese participants to be 33.7 at the beginning of the study and over the one year course, the weight loss of the participant have averaged to about 30.2 pounds, that is about 2.5 pounds shedded each month! For a typical American, an adult with a BMI of more than 25 is considered overweight and if the BMI is 30 or greater, one would be classified as obese.
Besides, the research has also found that both diet groups showed no change to memory loss and speed of mental processing. As such, it is best that dieters stick to high carbohydrates and low fat diets as an effective weight loss regime.
